Student Resources


MSU Denver offers a variety of resources to help students as they pursue their academic goals. Commonly accessed resources are included below as links to the services. Most services are available at no additional cost to the student. Students are encouraged to visit each resource listed to understand the benefits associated with each, and for details on how to access applicable services.

 

  • Academic Advising 
  • Access Center - Program that provides needed accommodations and support to students who experience any type of disability (mental health, chronic health, physical, sensory, and neurological) or temporary impairment (concussion, broken wrist, pregnancy, etc.).
  • Alternative Credit - Turn work and significant experience into college credit
  • Auraria Immunizations - Coordination of the State mandated immunization requirement and additional immunization services.
  • Auraria Recovery Community - A peer-led community of students who are currently in or seeking recovery from substance use and/or other process addictions. All pathways to recovery are welcome!
  • Brother 2 Brother - A mentoring program focused on academic success and social support for African-American men.
  • C2Hub Scholarship Support - Fosters a community of scholars through leadership activities, proactive coaching, scholar events, and professional development.
  • Campus Recreation - A place to build community and holistic well-being resources through opportunities like group fitness classes, personal training, intremural sports leagues, open recreation, outdoor pursuits and leadership programs, and health promotion activities.
  • CARE Team - Provides assessment and case management support for students who are struggling or who may be displaying behaviors of concern.
  • Center for Advanced STEM Education - Assists STEM majors through academic, financial, and peer mentor supports.
  • Center for Equity and Student Achievement (CESA)
  • Civic Engagement Program - Offering educationally meaningful service opportunities that positively impact the community and provide opportunities for students to develop as engaged citizens.

  • Classroom to Career Hub - Provides relevant and impactful career development for the full student body.
  • Community Engaged Learning Program - Classroom learning combined with reciprocal community-based service. This is a great way to gain hands-on experience through a class.
  • Counseling Center- Individual and group therapy, crisis intervention and outreach to students.
  • Dean of Students Office - Responds to and investigates issues related to student behavioral and academic misconduct, offers student conflict resolution services (including running the Restorative Justice Coalition), and provides general faculty, staff and student support for issues involving conflict. 
  • Earn and LearnProvides funding support to both undergraduate and graduate students who are in need of financial assistance to participate in unpaid, off- campus internship opportunities.
  • EPIC Scholars Program - Supports independent students transitioning from foster care, kinship care, adoption, or group homes.
  • Exploratory Advising - Supports students in major and career exploration.
  • Fraternities and Sororities - Sororities and fraternities at MSU Denver are values-based organizations that create life-long friendships, academic support, connections to other students, and student involvement. 
  • Gender Institute for Teaching and Advocacy (GITA) - Holistically supports students affected by sexism and other intersecting oppressions through academics, advocacy, and services, which include academic advising, scholarship assistance, advocacy and problem solving, wellness and lactation rooms, a snack stop, and space for community organizing.
  • Health Center at Auraria - Medical and Mental Health services for students
  • Healthy Pursuits - Free Group Fit and Mind Body Fitness Classes

  • Immunization Program
  • Individualized Degree Program - Create your own major and minor
  • Information for Pregnant and Parenting Students - Resource page for students who are a parent or assume primary caregiving responsibilities of any children, adolescents, or adult children with a disability living in their household part or full time. This includes pregnant and expecting students.
  • International Studies - Study abroad opportunities, Exchange Programs, Fullbright Student Award, Erasmus Scholarships.
  • Internships - Support for students in finding paid or unpaid internship opportunities and gaining academic credit for the experience.
  • LGBTQ Student Resource Center - Provides campus events, individualized student support/referrals, campus training and consultations (including student employees and student organizations), and a media library, all focused on themes and issues related to gender and sexuality.
  • Meritus Scholars - Lifelong learning for older adults
  • Met Media - Student newspaper, radio, arts/literary magazine, and news broadcasts
  • MSU Denver Student Insurance - Manages the Student Health Insurance Plan
  • Orientation - Provides in-person and online programming to support students in successfully starting and engaging in their college experience.
  • Peer Mentoring - Provides peer-to-peer support to help students navigate their career path and connect to campus resources.
  • Phoenix Center at Auraria - Interpersonal violence prevention, awareness, and support

  • Rowdy’s Corner (formerly Roadrunner Food Pantry) - Provides free food and basic needs resources and community referrals for current MSU Denver students.
  • Roadrunners Give Back Volunteer Program
  • Student Care Center - The hub for student support and referrals. Services include non-clinical case management, student emergency fund, DREAMer emergency fund, roadrunner food pantry, Epic Scholars program, public benefit assistance and Single Stop.
  • Student Conflict Resolution ServicesProvides mediation, conflict coaching, group dynamics services, and the Dialogues Program.
  • Student Emergency Fund - An application process for students experiencing a financial crisis/emergency.

  • Student Organizations - Student clubs and organizations are student-led groups formed and run by students focused around a specific interests, topics, and shared exploration of them. 
  • Student Travel and Professional Development Funding - Grant funding available for students to attend professional conferences or participate in online/local trainings.
  • Supplemental Instruction - A voluntary program that offers free, regularly scheduled study sessions for traditionally difficult course.
  • TRiO Student Support Services - Support for first-generation, low-income students, and students with disabilities
  • Tutoring - Provides individualized support to students in overcoming academic obstacles or barriers.
  • Testing Services - Offers placement testing for the student body to assist advisors in determining the selection of appropriate courses.
  • Transfer and Adult Student Success - We support transfer, adult, and re-engaged students by: connecting students to programs and resources based on student needs and interests; building community with other students, staff and faculty; and fostering an environment for academic, professional, and personal success.
  • Undergraduate Research and Creative Scholarship Program - Resource for students wanting to engage in research activities, presenting and grant opportunities
  • Veterans Education Benefits - Provides information and assistance from the enrollment process through graduation and helps students maximize their VA Education benefits
  • Veteran/Military Student Center - We advocate for and connect military-connected students to appropriate programs and resources, while also educating the campus community about their unique experiences and needs.  
  • Writing Center - One on one writing tutoring and support for all students
