SUR 4400 - Management of Land and Survey Themes in a Cadastral Based GIS/LIS

3(2 + 2)

Prerequisite: SUR 3310, SUR 4310, GIS 2250 and GIS 4850 with grades of “C” or better, or Permission of Instructor

This course is designed to be a “capstone” experience for the surveying student who has elected GIS/LIS as an area of emphasis. It is intended to give the advanced surveying student hands-on experience in dealing with real world GIS/LIS data sets. Emphasis will be on the acquisition and use of a variety of spatial data sets and the application of surveying techniques to quantify and, when appropriate, to improve a variety of spatial data that are available in different coordinate systems and map projections and the techniques the practicing surveyor will need to know in order to appropriately integrate these data.
