LDE 3510 - Perspectives in Education for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Learners
Credits: 3 (3 + 0)
Prerequisite(s): Completion of General Studies requirements in Written Communication, Oral Communication, and Quantitative Literacy; ECE 2340, EDU 3100 or EDS 3110 (depending on early childhood, elementary, or secondary focus); and SED 3600 or equivalent; or permission of instructor.
Description: This is an introductory course in language acquisition and teaching theory with emphasis on the linguistically and culturally diverse learner. It acquaints the teacher candidate with historical perspectives, philosophical frameworks, legal implications, subject matter methodologies, assessment, classroom instruction, parent involvement, and current issues that affect linguistically diverse students and the school programs serving them.
