LDE 3910 - Assessment of English Language Learners

Prerequisite(s): EDU 3510 and SED 3600 or Permission of instructor

Description: This course is designed to familiarize teacher candidates with various assessment issues and strategies specific to English language learners. Through this course teacher candidates will gain a current knowledge base which will enable them to effectively assess English language learners and report assessment results to students, parents, other educators, the school district, and other appropriate entities. Teacher candidates will learn various formal and informal assessment techniques and will be able to use the results of assessments to create appropriate and effective instruction. Teacher candidates will also become familiar with assessment issues affecting special needs and gifted and talented English language learners. This course contributes to the essential knowledge and dispositions required of teachers who work with English language learners.
