PHI 3370 - Computers, Ethics, and Society

Prerequisite(s): Completion of General Studies requirements in Written Communication, Oral Communication, and Quantitative Literacy and one of the following: any PHI course or any CS course or equivalent.
Description: This course investigates the values and value conflicts inherent in the modern practices of the business world, giving special attention to the problems and possibilities associated with computers and computing technologies. Designed to assist students in becoming effective computing professionals, it examines, in detail, questions concerning professional and ethical responsibilities, privacy and civil liberties, intellectual property, the risks and liabilities of computer-based systems, and the social context of computing, among others.
