RDGM 6000 - Intermediate Literacy Instruction in Grades K-6 Methods and Assessment

Description: This course focuses on literacy instruction and assessment for the intermediate reader. It addresses several key areas: intermediate identities and literacies, effective reading and learning practices, expanding comprehension, teacher and student assessment of literacy development, learning strategies, vocabulary knowledge, and disciplinary literacy. It focuses on collecting and interpreting classroom assessment data in order to plan literacy instruction, and addresses how state and federal legislation affects literacy instruction. It also reviews methods for differentiating literacy instruction.
