ECO 3600 - Economics of Inequality
Credits: 3
Prerequisite(s): ENG 1020 or ENG 1021
Description: This course applies the tools of economic analysis to issues that relate to marginalized groups in the United States. In this course, students analyze labor markets and how occupational choices and earnings vary systematically among marginalized groups and then examine how factors such as discrimination, racism, and sexism lead to different outcomes in these markets. Students also explore in detail the intended and unintended consequences of policies that address disparities in economic outcomes. Finally, students apply economic tools to non-labor market behavior to examine questions such as ‘missing women’, marriage and fertility choices, and sexual identity.
