LING 3020 - History of the English Language

Prerequisite(s): ENG 1020 or ENG 1021 or permission of instructor

Description: Students in this course study the linguistic, cognitive, and social factors that have combined to make the English language, in its many varieties, what it is today. These include factors from the internal history of English, such as sounds, inflections, and syntax, and the external history of English, such as political, social, and cultural influences.
