Department of Chicana and Chicano Studies


The Department of Chicana and Chicano Studies offers vibrant, interdisciplinary programs that allow students to study the historical, cultural, social and economic dynamics of Chicana/o and Latina/o communities in the United States. Adhering to the core values of academic excellence, social justice, human rights, self-empowerment, cultural competence, and responsiveness and service to community, the department works with students to fulfill their diverse academic and professional goals. Students have the following options for majoring in Chicano Studies: the bachelor of arts; and the bachelor of arts with teacher licensure in secondary education social studies. Students can also earn a minor in Chicano Studies.
