Speech Communication Minor

Students seeking a Speech Communication minor are required to take a minimum of 21 semester hours, 12 of which must be upper division.

Students seeking a Speech, Language, Hearing Sciences are required to take a minimum of 21 semester hours, 9 of which must be upper division.

Required Courses:

SPE 3740 - Psychology of Communication
THE 3200 - Oral Interpretation
Electives*

Note:

*Elective hours (total of15 semester hours including 6 upper-division hours) taken beyond the core are to be determined in consultation with a Speech Communication advisor. SPE 1010 Public Speaking is a prerequisite to THE 3200 and SPE 3740. This course is require for all Speech Communication minors. SPE 1010 cannot be counted towards the 21 credits required for this minor; however, it may be used to fulfill General Studies requirements.
