Training and Organizational Development Minor

The Training and Organizational Development Minor is designed to develop skills that will increase employment opportunities in the fields of organizational training, instructional design, media production, and organizational development. The minor includes courses from the departments of Teacher Education, Communication Arts and Sciences, and Technical Communication and Media Production. Students must complete a minimum of 24 semester hours. In addition to required core courses, students choose one of the following concentrations:
- organizational development strategies
- content and technology delivery
- media and interactive media production
Students must contact an advisor to plan a course of study for their particular minor. If you have taken any one of the required courses as part of your major, you must substitute another course in the minor for it.

Note:
Choose at least three courses from one of the following three concentrations. The fourth course can be from any of the three concentrations or one of the electives. Courses cannot be used to meet both the requirements of this minor and the requirements of any major. Organizational Development Strategies Concentration:
This concentration addresses the needs of two different groups of learners: first, the student who wants to engage in organizational development strategies and tactics to bring about change in the structure, function, and cultural aspects of an organizational system; and second, the student who wants to develop communication skills and enter into a career as a trainer. Content and Technology Delivery Concentration:
This concentration addresses the needs of teachers and resource personnel in educational systems who want to use technology to design and deliver instructional content. Media and Interactive Media Production Concentration:
This concentration addresses the needs of students and working professionals who wish to master technology and integrate it into their training programs. Note:
Students may complete a single one 3-hour internship as part of the overall requirements. The internship is not required, needs advisor approval, and cannot substitute for any of the 12-hour core courses. Required Core Courses: 12
