Precise surveying is that area of surveying and mapping when highly accurate measurements are made to determine positions and elevations on or near the earth’s surface for specialized requirements not encountered in surveying and mapping operations to support normal engineering and architectural projects.

1. The following courses comprise the program:

SUR 2550 - Surveying Computations
SUR 3100 - Survey Data Adjustment and Analysis I
SUR 3150 - Astronomy for Surveyors
SUR 3300 - Photogrammetry
SUR 3700 - Geodesy I
SUR 4320 - Geodetic Survey Methods
SUR 4510 - Map Projections and Coordinate Systems

Total: 17

2. A minimum of seventeen credits must be completed.

Prerequisites for the courses listed above may include, depending on the specific courses chosen, one or more of the following: SUR 2520 - Surveying II and SUR 2530 - Route Surveying, in addition to college courses in calculus, probability and statistics, and physics. See advisor for details.
