Technical Communication Core:

Corporate Communications and Training Concentration:
This communications concentration prepares the student for a career in technology-based training and/or managing the flow of information within and between technical and corporate communications networks and systems. It includes practical experience and a theoretical understanding of corporate training and corporate communication reflecting the culture that exists within a corporation. It focuses on the various methodologies for the dissemination of information within corporations and governmental agencies. The curriculum is designed to provide breadth of knowledge and multi-task capability. Technical Communication Core: 9

Interactive Media Production Concentration:
This communication concentration provides the student with the theory, production and programming practices of interactive Web, DVD, and multimedia production. The course work includes the writing, editing, designing, authoring, and programming of interactive multimedia projects in addition to professional experience and hands-on practice with computer hardware and software. Such productions are frequently used for education, training, marketing, public relations, and sales purposes. Technical Communication Core: 9

This communication concentration provides the student with the theoretical and practical experience required to design, write, edit, and produce media and video productions for use in industry, government, corporate, cable narrowcasting, and other organizations. Such productions are frequently used for training, image creation, promotional, motivational, narrowcasting, and sales purposes. Technical Communication Core: 9

Technical Writing and Editing Concentration:
This communications concentration provides the student with both the theory and production practices of technical writing and editing used by industry and government. It includes course work in the writing, editing, design, and production of technical reports, proposals, and manuals in addition to professional experience and hands-on practices with computer hardware and software. The curriculum is designed to provide breadth of knowledge and multi-task capability. Technical Communication Core: 9

Extended Majors:
To complete either of the extended major options, the student must fulfill all the requirements specified in one of the technical communications concentrations. In addition, the student must fulfill all General Studies and multicultural requirements of Metro State. Students enrolled in the extended major are NOT required to complete a minor. Extended Major Option 1
A student completing a community college degree may enroll for an extended major within the department if the student fulfills all of the following conditions:
- The curriculum for the associates degree to be used is accepted by the department; and
- A 2+2 agreement is in place between the community college granting the degree and the Technical Communication and Media Production Department.
Extended Major Option 2
All technical communication majors who choose the Extended Major Option 2 are required to complete the following courses: Required Senior Experience:

Note:
An extended major must complete at least 18 hours of electives. At least 12 credit hours must be selected from the list of departmental electives and the courses chosen can not be used in your concentration or as your Senior Experience course. Electives outside the department are not required, but can be selected from the list of electives outside the department. Electives:
