Studio Art Concentrations:

Note:
Foundation courses are prerequisites for courses within the studio concentration. Check each course description for specific prerequisites or corequisites. Also required for all studio art majors:

A letter grade of “C” or better is required in each foundation course, each of the courses listed above, and each course specifically required for a concentration.
Students must choose one of the following areas of concentration: ceramics, communication design, digital art, drawing, jewelry design and metalsmithing, painting, photography, printmaking, or sculpture. (The art education concentration is listed separately.)

Additional Information:
A minimum of 33 upper-division art hours required, 40 upper-division hours total for the degree.
A minor is optional for art majors.
ARTH 3300 may be taken for the multicultural requirement. It is required for some concentrations. Ceramics Concentration:
Ceramics students must take ART 1541 Drawing II as part of their foundation coursework. The following courses are required for the concentration:

Ceramics students may apply IND 1470 Perspective Drawing to their art or art history electives. Total for the Concentration: 51
Communication Design Concentration:
Communication Design students must take ART 1531 Introduction to Digital Art and Design as a foundation course. Students must have a suitable laptop computer before proceeding with ART 3225 and subsequent courses. See advisor for specifications. The following courses are required for the concentration:

Digital Art Concentration:
Digital Art students must take ART 1531 Introduction to Digital Art and Design as a foundation course. The following courses are required for the concentration:

Painting Concentration:

Printmaking Concentration:

Sculpture Concentration:

Notes:
*Student teaching is composed of daily full-time work during 16 weeks, split 8 and 8 weeks between elementary and secondary levels. ART 4703 is dual-listed with EDU 4190; ART 4704 is dual-listed with EDS 4290.
