The 24 semester-hour Nonprofit Studies certificate program is designed for working professionals and non-degree-seeking students who may or may not have a baccalaureate or master’s degree or agency training in the administration and management of nonprofit and public organizations. Non-degree students may register for each course sequentially, or select only those classes that meet their professional goals (non-certificate).
In order to qualify for the Nonprofit Studies Certificate, an applicant must be accepted as an MSU Denver student. Each student must also complete a minimum of 150 hours of volunteer experience in a nonprofit agency while enrolled in the certificate program that applies the skills learned in the classroom. If the student can demonstrate that s/he has at least 500 hours work experience in a nonprofit organization, paid or unpaid, this requirement may be waived. Students must complete each course in the certificate program with a grade of “C” or better. The courses cannot be taken pass/fail.
