First Year Success

The First Year Success Program (FYS) is designed to help Metro State students successfully transition into the college experience.  The FYS Learning Communities focus on serving first-time college students.

The FYS program provides students with a wide selection of general studies classes that link together to form a learning community.  One example of linked courses could include an English Composition course linked with a History course or a political Science course linked with a Speech Communication course.  The students who choose to participate in a learning community will take six credits of linked courses together with their peers for the semester.  In addition to these FYS classes, studetns will have the opportunity to select other general studies courses.
