Chemistry Minor

Students must complete 19 semester hours, plus associated prerequisites within the framework of specific courses, to qualify for a minor in chemistry.

A grade of “C-” or better is required for each course in this program to count toward the minor. Students should note that programs differ in the minimum grade required.

Chemistry courses selected in consultation with a faculty advisor from the 3000- and 4000-level series must be completed to bring the total number of chemistry credits to 19 semester hours. Two elective courses must be laboratory courses. No more than 3 credit hours from any combination of CHE 3980, 4650, and 4370 may be counted. Credit may be counted for either for Survey of Physical Chemistry and Laboratory, CHE 3190 and 3200, or for Physical Chemistry I and Laboratory, CHE 3250 and 3280. The following crime scene investigation courses may not count toward the chemistry minor: CHE 3600 and 3610. Students interested in these courses should seek the criminalistics minor.
