K-12 Physical Education Major, B.S.

Candidates who wish to obtain Colorado licensure for K-12 Physical Education must earn a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree with a major in K-12 Physical Education. K-12 Physical Education majors are required to complete courses in: professional activities, such as team, individual and dual activities, the core curriculum, including physical education methods, movement science for teacher educators, and motor learning, as well as required teacher licensure courses. The core curriculum is designed to prepare candidates to pass the K-12 Physical Education PRAXIS exam and to utilize the Colorado Teacher Quality Standards. Licensure candidates need to meet with a K-12 Physical Education advisor. Candidates seeking teacher licensure must also gain admission to the Teacher Education Program. A grade of “C-” or better is required for each course in this program to count toward the bachelor’s degree.
