The Human Anatomy and Physiology badge is a competency badge offered through the Department of Biology. Completing this badge demonstrates a strong foundation in human anatomic terminology, body structure and function, and the development of leadership skills as teaching assistants or learning assistants in a laboratory-based setting.
Earning Criteria
Participants earning this badge are required to demonstrate academic competency in human anatomy and physiology, serve as teaching assistant or learning assistant in one human anatomy and/or physiology laboratory setting, use effective communication within a diverse student and faculty population, develop problem-solving skills within the human anatomy and physiology laboratory setting, and enhance teamwork through ongoing laboratory instruction.
Competencies Demonstrated
- Recognize and apply the language of human anatomy and common anatomical terminology used in the laboratory setting.
- Distinguish the overall function of each body system covered in introductory human anatomy and physiology laboratory courses (skeletal, muscular, nervous, sensory, endocrine, cardiovascular, lymphatic, digestive, respiratory, reproductive, and urinary).
- Demonstrate effective communication with students in human anatomy and physiology laboratory instruction.
- Demonstrate teamwork through effort put into team tasks, interacting effectively with student teams and course instructors.
- Solve problems that arise when assisting students in the human anatomy and physiology laboratory setting.
