Digital Media Minor

The Digital Media Minor includes courses from the departments of Art and Journalism and Media Production. This minor is designed to provide skills that will increase employment opportunities in the field of digital media communication.

In addition to required core courses, students choose one of the following concentrations: motion media, interactive media, content design, or still media. The Motion Media concentration deals with television and industry video production. Students in Interactive Media work with computer graphics, interactive applications, and web-based media production. The Content Design concentration focuses on the design of the message from the visual and written perspective. Still Media students explore with photography, photojournalism, and computer imaging.

Program Requirements


  • This minor consists of 24 credits, 6 of which must be upper division.
  • Prerequisites for the courses used for the Digital Media Minor must be satisfied.
  • ARTH 1500 is recommended to fulfill the General Studies Arts and Humanities requirement.
  • Students should contact an advisor to plan a course of study for their particular minor.
  • If a student has taken any one of the required courses as part of their major, another course in the minor must be substituted.

All students in the Digital Media Minor begin with the following courses.

Specialized Concentration & Elective Courses: 15 credits


Choose three courses (9 credits) from one of the four concentrations. In addition, choose two elective courses (6 credits) from any of the four concentrations. At least two courses must be upper division. Courses cannot be used to meet both the requirements of this minor and the requirements of a major in the Departments of Art or Journalism and Media Production.
