College of Letters, Arts and Sciences

About the Program

The Sociology minor introduces students to the study of social life, culture, and institutions, emphasizing how social structures and power shape individual and collective experiences. Students select from a wide range of elective courses on topics such as race and ethnicity, gender, aging, technology, family, globalization, education, media, health, and social change. Throughout their coursework, students engage with sociological perspectives and research practices, developing skills in critical thinking, cultural awareness, and social analysis. The flexibility of the minor allows students to tailor their studies to complement their major field, particularly in areas such as psychology, criminal justice, political science, anthropology, history, social work, education, health sciences, economics, or marketing, while preparing for diverse career paths and further study in the social and behavioral sciences.
