About the Program


Post-baccalaureate teacher licensure programs are designed to prepare students with a conferred bachelor’s degree for teacher licensure in Colorado. Admission requirements for post-baccalaureate students seeking licensure include evidence of having at least a conferred bachelor’s degree and all stated criteria for Formal Admission to the School of Education.

Students should meet with an advisor in the appropriate content department based on focus area - Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Earth and Atmospheric Sciences (for Environmental Science focus) - and the secondary/K-12 education department for detailed information on post-baccalaureate licensure in Science. Faculty will review the transcript for completed coursework appropriate for the endorsement being sought. It may be necessary for a post-baccalaureate candidate to complete specified courses in the content area in addition to the teacher licensure coursework.

Specific coursework is required in various categories of Science to meet standards for Science teacher licensure. Approved courses in your major (or the approved equivalent) and in the following content areas are required. Please contact an appropriate advisor in the relevant science department for transcript review and additional content coursework planning.
