Description: This course provides the tools to critically analyze the principles of health promotion and disease prevention in families, groups, communities, and, populations. Cultural diversity, ethics, legal and political responsibility of the nurse is discussed. The leadership roles of advocate, change agent, collaborator, resource person, and the teacher are emphasized. The learner applies theories and models from the fields of public health, education, and nursing to community health nursing. Focus is placed on epidemiology, communicable disease, and health risks across the lifespan.
