Outdoor Recreation Leadership Certificate

The certificate in Outdoor Recreation Leadership focuses on providing students with knowledge and skills for the management and delivery of outdoor recreation activities. This is a “value-added” certificate, and all courses can be applied to completing a major in Recreation Professions. No more than 40% of the credits may be transferred and only one course substitution, including omnibus courses, may be approved by the department chair.

The certificate in Outdoor Recreation Leadership is comprised of a minimum of 15 semester hours. A grade of “C” or better is required in all RECR-prefixed courses required for the certificate.

Electives


In consultation with your advisor, select a minimum of five semester hours from the following recommended, upper-division courses:

  • Credits: 1-3
  • RECR 399B - Outdoor Recreation Leadership Credits: 2
  • RECR 399C - Rock Climbing Training Program Credits: 1-3
  • RECR 399D - Canyoneering Training Program Credits: 3
  • RECR 399H - Advanced Rock Climbing Leadership Credits: 1-3
