Culinary Arts Minor


The Culinary Arts Minor at Metropolitan State University of Denver provides advanced knowledge and understanding of the skills needed to succeed personally and professionally in the kitchen. Whether your passion is cooking in the home or the business and hospitality side of the food service industry, obtaining a minor in Culinary Arts will give you a great advantage in all aspects of food service, from healthcare to hotels and everything in between. 

Students must be accepted to the University and take courses for credit. The cost of the program is the same as undergraduate tuition for degree-seeking students. Students with similar courses in their prior experience may request that courses be transferred to meet part of the minor requirements.

Admission and Graduation Requirements

This minor program is open to all undergraduate, degree-seeking students. To be awarded the program minor, the student must meet the following requirements:

  • Review the minor program plan with an advisor prior to or after enrollment.
  • Earn at least a “C” or better in each of the minor courses.
  • Earn a minimum of 3 credit hours of upper division credit at MSU Denver.

In earning the Culinary Arts Minor, the student will be given the skills to take the American Culinary Federation’s Certified Sous Chef Examination.
