ALP 4491 - Alternative Licensure Program: General Education Semester I

Prerequisite(s): Must meet all Alternative Licensure Program admission requirements.
Description: This course introduces candidates in the Alternative Licensure Program to the essential knowledge, skills, and dispositions required for effective classroom practice. Emphasis is placed on instructional planning, classroom management, and strategies for engaging diverse learners in alignment with the Colorado Teacher Quality Standards. Candidates will examine theories of learning and development, culturally responsive pedagogy, and formative assessment practices as they begin to develop their professional identity as educators. Concurrent fieldwork provides opportunities to apply course concepts in authentic classroom settings. Successful completion of this course demonstrates a candidate’s initial competence in lesson design, instructional delivery, and the creation of inclusive learning environments.
