BIO 4280 - Ornithology


Credits: 4 (3 + 3)

Prerequisite(s): BIO 1080 and BIO 1090, BIO 1081 and BIO 1091, and eight hours of additional biology courses, or permission of instructor

This course is designed so that the student will achieve a general understanding of birds and how they function. This objective requires a synthesis of several fields of zoology (ecology, anatomy, physiology, behavior, evolution, and systematics) as they apply to birds. The laboratory portion of the course will emphasize anatomy, physiology and field techniques for identifying birds of Denver, Colorado.  Required field trips may include one weekend trip.
