Construction Project Management Major, B.A.

About the Program


This is a multi-disciplinary major created to support a workforce initiative for the Construction Industries. A Minor is recommended but not required.The suggested options are Architecture Minor , Business Minor , and Spanish Minor . Students who have completed training through programs such as U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Registered Apprenticeships, School District No. 1 in the City and County of Denver, or Emily Griffith Technical College may be eligible for transfer credit toward lower-division requirements. All transfer credit is subject to review and approval by the Department of Construction Project Management and may not be utilized in any other way at MSU Denver.

Student Outcomes


Student outcomes are used to evaluate the students and support the program educational objectives. Attainment of these outcomes prepares graduates to enter the professional practice of construction project management.

  1. Apply construction methods, estimating, scheduling, safety, and project controls to plan and manage the built environment, using industry-standard software and tools.
  2. Demonstrate leadership, collaboration, and ethical decision-making while communicating effectively with diverse stakeholders in real-world project settings.
  3. Utilize and adapt to emerging technologies and systems in construction, earning industry-recognized credentials to demonstrate workforce readiness and professional competence.
  4. Integrate classroom knowledge with hands-on experience through internships, capstone projects, certifications, and real-world applications to support career success across multiple roles in the construction ecosystem.
  5. Address complex construction challenges with an interdisciplinary, inclusive mindset-drawing from business, real estate, facility management, and sustainability to expand professional impact and adaptability.
  6. Engage in continuous personal and professional development to adapt to industry change, pursue certifications and advanced education, and support the evolving needs of the workforce and society.

General Degree Requirements


To earn a degree, students must satisfy all requirements in each of the four areas below, in addition to their individual major requirements. 

Program Requirements


  • A total of 120 semester hours are required for graduation. 
  • A grade of C- or better is required for each course in this program to count toward the bachelor’s degree. Students should note that programs differ in the minimum grade required.
  • A minor is recommended for this program. Recommended minors are:
  • Students are required to take a minor or elective courses to complete their major and fulfill the graduation requirement of 120 credits. Students should consult with an advisor prior to selecting a minor or electives.

General Studies Requirements: 33 credits


Students should consult the General Studies Requirements  for a list of courses that fulfill the General Studies Requirements for degree completion.  

 

** Students will fulfill the global diversity requirement by taking an approved course within one of the following categories: arts and humanities; historical; natural and physical sciences; or social and behavioral sciences. 

Ethnic Studies & Social Justice Requirement: 0 or 3 credits


  • Students should consult the Ethnic Studies & Social Justice Graduation Requirement  for a list of courses that fulfill the ESSJ Requirement for degree completion.
  • Many programs include courses that meet this requirement. Students should consult with their advisor to determine what program courses may fulfill this requirement.
